8-Ball Team Championship:
This competition is played on 90 3½ x 7-ft.tables at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It uses a modified single elimination format that allows every team the opportunity to play twice in the competition before being eliminated. Two divisions make up the Championship - Open (any combination of men and women) and Ladies. Teams compete for a portion of the $500,000 guaranteed prize fund! All teams receive National Qualifier prize money of $350 at the on-site registration, and $25,000 in prize money will be awarded to the 1st Place team in the Open Division. The 1st Place Ladies Division team takes home $10,000.

9-Ball Team Championship:
The 9-Ball National Team Championship offers an Open Division only. This modified single elimination event is held in conjunction with the Ladies Division of the 8-Ball National Team Championship, and awards a $100,000 prize fund. All teams receive National Qualifier prize money of $350 and the 1st Place team takes home a total of $15,000 in prize money.

 

 

The culmination of the APA Singles Program is the APA National Singles Championships, held annually at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. This event consist of two national singles competitions:

8-Ball Classic - This event offers three Skill Level Tiers: Blue Tier (SL 2&3), Yellow Tier (SL 4&5) and Purple Tier (SL 6&7). The champion in each tier of this event receives $15,000 in cash and prizes. Total purse for this event is $200,000.

9-Ball Shootout - This event offers three Skill Level Tiers: Green Tier (SL 1-3), White Tier (SL 4&5) and Black Tier (SL 6-9). The champion in each tier of this event receives $10,000 in cash and prizes. Total purse for this event is $100,000.

Competition is played on 3 ½ x 7 - ft. tables, using a modified single elimination format that allows every team the opportunity to play at least twice before being eliminated. All nationally qualified players receive free lodging (based on double occupancy) and a travel assistance fund, compliments of the APA. Players in these events compete in Skill Level Tiers, and competition is open to both men and women, who compete head-to-head.

APA members who are currently playing on an active 8-Ball or 9-Ball team, and have attained at least ten League match scores during the past two years in their respective format(s), are eligible to participate in the National Singles Program. At the local level, APA members compete on a Local Qualifier Board consisting of four to eight members with one player advancing on to regional competition. The local entry fee for this competition is $15, and there is no limit on qualifying attempts. Qualifier Board winners advance to the Regional and National levels with no additional entry fee. At the local level, Qualifier Boards are open to players of all skill levels. Board winners advance regionally and nationally to one of three Skill Level Tiers that corresponds with their Skill Level. The Singles Program also utilizes the Equalizer handicap system.

 

Our long-term commitment to our members is to bring fun and excitement to amateur pool. We make every effort to provide our members with as many opportunities as possible to compete at our National Singles Championships and our National Team Championships. One way we do this is by offering our MiniMania Tournaments held during our two largest events.

During the National Team Championships and National Singles Championships MiniMania events are held 20 hours per day. MiniMania Tournaments are open to all current APA members with at least 10 League match scores and guarantees 100 % payback of each tournament's entry fees. Entry fees range from $10 to $50 and must be paid upon registration. Entrants must bring a picture id and their current APA membership card.
