4th ANNUAL STATE TOURNAMENT:
We had 19 teams participate in the 4th annual State Tournament February 20-22. 5 Ohio areas joined efforts for this tournament. 9 teams participated from the Central Ohio APA, 1 team from Dayton area, 7 teams from Akron/Canton, 1 team from West Central, and 1 team from West Cuyahoga. The cost to participate in this event was $200/per team. 1st and 2nd place teams opted to split the winnings. Also, each player from the 1st and 2nd place teams received individual trophies.

Spring Singles Regional Tournament:
The spring Singles Regional was held at the 8-Ball Sports Bar on March 7 and 8th. There were a couple of differences this year. We also held the 9 Ball Singles Regional in which 23 players participated. A new tier was created for skill level 5 players. Because there were 106 participants in the 8 Ball Regional in addition to the 9 Ball regional, the Regional tournaments extended into Sunday.

National News, how Central Ohio APA fared:
Jeremy Miller placed 129 in the 6-7 skill level bracket and George (Bill) Geddes placed 9th in the skill level 5 bracket in Las Vegas! Congratulations, Jeremy & Bill!
Jack & Jill National Tournament: Terry Norman and Zola Scott placed 33rd in the National Jack & Jill Tournament.
CAPTAIN/CO-CAPTAIN TOURNAMENT
The Captain/Co-Captain tournament was held March 28. As always, there is no entry fee to participate in this tournament. APA and the 8 Ball Sports bar contributed $10/player for winners and paid out to 12 places. 39 players competed in this tournament. Coming in 1st place was Mike Dunn, co-captain of the team Break n Run in the Nationwide division.

3 PERSON TOURNAMENT:
The 3 person tournament was held at the 8 Ball Sports Bar April 4. 12 teams participated in this event. Winners of this tournament were the 3 Stooges, winning $180. This team consisted of Larry Brown Jr., Joe Holbrook, and Virgil Jackson. Congratulations, guys!

8 BALL DOUBLES TOURNAMENT:
We held our first 8 Ball Doubles tournament offering the winning team a chance to compete in the National 8 Ball Doubles Tournament in Las Vegas during the National Team Championships. We had a very good tournament for the first time running it. 31 teams participated.
Winners of the tournament were Thom Adler and Kara Heatwole. They received $600 to offset travel expenses for their trip to compete. 2nd place was Cathy Hall and Bill Tarleton, who received $200. 3 & 4th places each received $50. Teams were: Joey Sparks & Kevin Hayes and Josh Allen & Ryan Hannahs.

PERSONAL:
Births:
Steve (Devo) and Kristen Richmond had a (beautiful) baby girl, Georgia Elizabeth, born on April 24, 2009.
Kevin and Candy Kirkpatrick had son #2, Kasen. Candy ended up in the hospital for a week before delivering Kasen who was 6 weeks early! Brother Kelton is proud of his new sibling.
Deaths:
Polly Bither passed away May 20th. She shot pool with the APA off and on for 3 years from 2005-2008 in the Grove City league.
Pat Nemeth passed away June 21. He shot pool in the APA from 2001 to spring of this year. Pat played in the Newark League.
Eva Thomas, who has been a member of the APA since 2007, died in a car accident on Saturday, May 9. She played out of Shannon’s Pub.
